If you are renting your home or apartment, your personal belongings are not covered by your landlord’s homeowners policy. Renters Insurance provides coverage for personal property and legal liability as well as additions and alterations you make to the property.
Coverages include:
Personal Property. This covers loss of your personal possessions, including clothes, furniture, stereo equipment, jewelry and other belongings against fire, theft and other perils.
Loss of Use. This coverage pays for the additional living expenses - those above and beyond your normal living expenses - incurred if your residence is temporarily unusable because of a loss.
Personal Liability. This covers you for personal loss exposure if a claim is made or a suit is brought against you due to bodily injury or property damage.
Medical Payments. This coverage will pay the necessary medical expenses for bodily injury of others due to an accident that occurs on your premises or in any location, if caused by you.
All policies contain limitations and exclusions. This description is general in scope and the specific policy language must be referred to in actual determination of coverage. Please consult your account advisor with questions.
